Sun of a Beach

Sunny day at Manhattan Beach, I walked down to the pier to watch the 6-Man yearly volleyball tournament, always entertaining. This town is filled with hip yuppies and old beach bums with vintage cars and homes, I fell in love with this Volkswagen van and had to take a few shots with its mellow yellow shade. I love the eclectic and hippie houses around this beach town, some have a really eccentric sense of style, regardless I adore them due to my attraction to kitsch. What I wore: Vintage cream tweed jacket by Chanel, Nirvana vintage graphic tee, Vintage cut-offs by Levi's, Lace ballet flats by: Chanel
Cream sunnies by: Ray Ban.

Since I'm at the beach, I thought it only obligatory to have a bathing suit post. I have fully re-embraced the one piece swimsuit since I wore them as a little girl. As I was pulling images I liked, I started thinking about some of my favorite films which corresponded. What do you think? Enjoy!

Seeing Russian Dolls

Alice and Olivia, Charlotte Olympia, Emilee anne, Emileeanne, Fashion, Mary Katrantzou, Matryoshka, Nesting Dolls, Russian Dolls,

It's always exciting to see a trend or style you've envisioned come into production. I have always admired the Matryoshka nesting dolls, owning my own hand painted collection growing up. Having an attraction to miniature anything, I always liked digging down to the tiniest doll and taking her out to play, leaving the empty shells behind. Later, growing up with an artist for a mother, I learned to appreciate all the detailed and intricate paintings each layer possessed. Sophomore year at Parsons I designed a knitwear collection inspired by these Russian dolls in my digital class, making my own digital prints and clothing designs. 1. Suede and wooden sandals by Charlotte Olympia 2. Floral printed peplum top by Alice + Olivia 3. Printed silk skirt by Mary Katrantzou 4. Baboushka embroidered clutch by Charlotte Olympia 5. Wool blend dress by Mary Karantzou.

On Paris and Chanel

Chanel, Emilee anne, Emileeanne, Fashion, France, Laduree, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Paris, Tim Burton,

This Summer I was fortunate enough to spend my graduation trip in Europe. My family started out in Paris, then venturing south to the country. It has been a well known fact amongst my family that I idolize Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. So the main driving force behind this adventure was to visit the original Chanel store which was also Gabrielle's apartment. I hope one day I will be able to visit the second floor of Rue 31 Cambon, but I only got as close as her infamous mirrored stairway. While at the shop I picked up a pair of pale pink jellies I've been eying all month, fleshy pink retro framed sunnies and a beautiful silk scarf with brushy pastel strokes creating flowers and double C's. I also couldn't resist investing in a bottle of "Gold Fingers" Chanel nail polish only available at Rue 31. Before heading out to the country I also visited the Decorative Arts Museum located near the Louvre. Being interested in the French and fashion design I went in seek of Jeanne Lanvin's apartment decorated in the Art Deco style, a favorite of mine. In addition to the apartment there was a Marc Jacobs v. Louis Vuitton exhibit that showed the progression from Vuitton's antique trunks to the modern world Marc Jacobs has brought the line into. Having just obtained our very own Laduree in New York, I was really looking forward to visiting the original cafe established in 1862. Another New York experience I was looking forward to revisiting was the Tim Burton exhibit, always mesmerizing.

Coral Lace and Pianos

I made this blouse a couple Summers ago out of this retro coral printed chiffon and vintage minty lace. My mom and I took a sewing class together just to practice our pattern making since I was about to start my first semester as a Fashion Design major. Having graduated this year, I can't believe how fast the time has passed. What I wore: Coral print blouse by Emilee Anne, sequined tulle skirt by Lux Lux Lux, clear plastic jellies by Top Shop.
