This Summer I was fortunate enough to spend my graduation trip in Europe. My family started out in Paris, then venturing south to the country. It has been a well known fact amongst my family that I idolize Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. So the main driving force behind this adventure was to visit the original Chanel store which was also Gabrielle's apartment. I hope one day I will be able to visit the second floor of Rue 31 Cambon, but I only got as close as her infamous mirrored stairway. While at the shop I picked up a pair of pale pink jellies I've been eying all month, fleshy pink retro framed sunnies and a beautiful silk scarf with brushy pastel strokes creating flowers and double C's. I also couldn't resist investing in a bottle of "Gold Fingers" Chanel nail polish only available at Rue 31. Before heading out to the country I also visited the Decorative Arts Museum located near the Louvre. Being interested in the French and fashion design I went in seek of Jeanne Lanvin's apartment decorated in the Art Deco style, a favorite of mine. In addition to the apartment there was a Marc Jacobs v. Louis Vuitton exhibit that showed the progression from Vuitton's antique trunks to the modern world Marc Jacobs has brought the line into. Having just obtained our very own Laduree in New York, I was really looking forward to visiting the original cafe established in 1862. Another New York experience I was looking forward to revisiting was the Tim Burton exhibit, always mesmerizing.
