Yayoi Kusama

I visited Yayoi Kusama's exhibit at The Whitney for the second time this month, taking my Mother along with me. Kusama has been painting since the early 1950's, but really made an impact on the art scene around the 60's with her eccentric sculptures and public nude happenings around New York City including the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and even a church. Hey, it was all about free love expression and phalic furniture... what's not to love? She certainly still captivates this city as seen by the line wrapped around the block each time I have come to the exhibit. It was such a beautiful Fall day in the city, filled with Yayoi's polka dots taking over the windows at Louis Vuitton. It is no surprise that a designer like Marc Jacobs would be inspired by an artist as dotty as Yayoi. Too see more of the collaboration visit Louis Vuitton.
Me inside Fireflies on the Water, one of Kusama's infamous infinity rooms. Viewers are allowed one minute alone at a time, even though I could spend all day inside!
 Yayoi Kusama in her studio.

What I Wore: Alice + Olivia embellished sweater, Phillip Lim 3.1 ruffled skirt, H&M polka dot tights and socks, Jefferey Campbell oxfords, Hermes Birkin, Prada Sunglasses and a black beret I picked up while in the South of France.
After the show, we hopped down to Bloomingdales to check out the dotty bags and windows at Louis Vuitton.
