Casual Glam

When I  have a really elegant dress I bought for a special occasion, I hate to just let it hide away in my closet. When I have a dressy garment like this that I really love, I like to add in some more casual pieces to transition the look into an everyday ensemble. Some of my favorite resolutions are to layer up an elegant gown with chunky sweaters, costume jewelry and a pair of simple flats.

Here's some video footage I took this Fall 2013 season at New York Fashion week. The week always goes by so fast, and I am super anxious to see the rest of Fall 2013 from Milan and Paris in the upcoming weeks!

NYFW Insta-Recap

Here are some highlights, captured with my instagram, from my past week, most of which was spent at New York Fashion Week.

From left to right: Sitting inside the tents at Lincoln Center waiting for the Tracy Reese show. The line-up backstage at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Maison Laduree macaroon surprises from my sweet valentine. Lunch at Rosa Mexicano after Rebecca Minkoff. Me, in the yellow dress, snapping photos at the Marc Jacobs show on style.com. Giving myself bangs, I seem to never be able to grow them out! My backstage pass from the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. Lolita, my kitty, looking very grumpy. Backstage at Helmut Lang.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2013

This season was no exception from Marc's theatrics on the runway. Marc Jacobs set the stage with a giant glowing sun, turning everything into a sea of sepia tones. As the models walked out I could only make out shades of grey and the faint shimmering of sequins. Jacobs sent the models out for a second lap, this time with the brights turned up. The clothes came to life in various shades of burgundy, emerald and navy while the sparkling of metallics gave the garments another level of awe. Beautiful draped floor length dresses paired with full animal stoles gave the runway that old Hollywood glamour appeal while the shaggy mullets and scantily clad looks added a dash of Joan Jet and Rock and Roll.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

The Marc by Marc Jacobs team took inspiration from the 1970's, old hollywood glamour and the Bauhaus lifestyle. Of course Marc put his quirky vintage spin on the silhouettes, prints and styling. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the adorable mini luggage bags! As for the after party, this year the event was held at the prestigious Harvard Club of New York City where we listened to The Kills take over the DJ booth and ate mini ice creams all night.

As always, I am very honored to be working amongst such an amazing group of designers, and cannot wait to see what my friends on the Marc Jacobs collection team have in store for us tomorrow evening. Don't forget to watch the Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 Show tomorrow live at 7:30 est.
